Academic Wellness

The National Wellness Institute defines “wellness” as “an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a more successful existence.”

Using this definition as a guide, the Academic Success Center is dedicated to helping students better understand how they can recognize and utilize campus resources that can support them on their journey to academic wellness and ultimately, graduation at UNCA.

Our staff members partner with faculty, administrators, and other campus offices to provide a holistic ethic of care for our students, especially in their academic lives.

A key academic initiative that helps us to identify when students might need extra support is Academic Alerts. The purpose of academic alerts is to help students stay on track and provide them with resources and support to improve their academic performance.

If a student finds themselves on Academic Warning, the Academic Success Program is designed to help them get back on track.
